GLOBAL RELIEF ALLIANCE: 2009 NUTRITION AND FOOD SECURITY STUDY IN WEST DARFUR (SEPTEMBER 2009)

Conducted the 2009 Nutrition and Food Security Study assessment in three operational areas of West Darfur: Azerni, Sanidadi, and Um Tajok. The study included a collection of information and anthropometric data on health, water & sanitation, nutrition, breast feeding, mortality, and food security. Children from the age of 6 to 59 months (i.e. under 5 years of age) were measured and weighed to determine the status of their health and risk of malnourishment. 
 

USAID's GENDER EQUITY THROUGH EDUCATION (GEE) PROGRAM, SOUTHERN SUDAN (FEBRUARY TO APRIL 2008): LONGITUDINAL STUDY TEAM LEADER
 
Conducted the baseline study for the GEE program, the first stage of a five-year longitudinal study to measure the impact of the scholarship program that supports girls and women (and some boys) in secondary school and teacher training. Prepared a training manual and trained Ministry of Education Science and Technology staff and GEE staff on data collection and entry. Devised data capture tools (survey questionnaires) and analyzed and presented the data. The premise of the program is "that by increasing the number of girls finishing secondary school, and making teacher training available to them, the number of female teachers for primary school will increase substantially" .
 

EVALUATION OF USAID/OTI PEACE-BUILDING PROGRAMS IN SOUTHERN SUDAN
(NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2005)

 
Evaluation of small grants for peace-building funded by USAID/OTI in Southern Sudan (2002-2005). Coverage included Equatoria (Juba, Kapoeta, Lauro, Kamulach, Kimatong, and Torit) and Upper Nile (Bor, Lekuangole, Pagak, and Ayod). [Team B covered Bahr el Ghazal and South Kordofan]
 
 
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, JUBA, SOUTHERN SUDAN for USAID (2006)
 
Policy advice to the newly appointed Minister of Education, and capacity building in the following departments (1) Planning and Budgeting (2) Quality Promotion and Innovation (3) Gender and Social Change, and (4) General Education. Documented a situational analysis of the Annual Education Census and the Educational Management Information System (EMIS).
 
 
REVISION OF UNDP's POVERTY ALLEVIATION ORIENTED GOVERNANCE PROGRAM FOR THE RED SEA STATE for Danida (SEPTEMBER 2006)
 
Based in Khartoum and Port Sudan, to ensure the Red Sea State Government is able to deliver adequate public, social and economic infrastructure and services based on participatory, pro-poor, gender-sensitive, responsive and transparent planning procedures. Revision of Poverty Alleviation Oriented Governance Program to include Capacity Building component.
